Winter Transportation & Parking
All visitors, especially those who do not have a vehicle that is equipped with proper traction devices or are uncomfortable driving in severe winter weather conditions, are encouraged to utilize public transit and shuttle services, delay travel, or carpool in a properly equipped vehicle.

UTA Ski Bus
Utah Transit Authority (UTA) provides a seasonal ski service that begins when the resorts open and continues throughout the winter season, typically from November to April.
The ski bus fare is free for accessing Powder Mountain. The bus to Snowbasin is free for passholders (Snowbasin or IKON season pass) and employees. Otherwise, ski bus fare is $5.00, and some student and employee passes may not be applicable.
You can pay for your ride using the Transit app (show your mobile ticket to the bus driver when you board), or your Pass (IKON or season pass) by tapping your card on the card reader when you board the bus.

Summer Parking in the Ogden Valley
Planning your travel is the most important step for ensuring a safe and efficient trip to the Ogden Valley's mountain resorts and popular summer destinations. The tools below provide essential, real-time information to help you manage your journey, reduce frustration, and avoid unnecessary delays caused by traffic congestion.
Ogden Canyon Parking
For safety reasons, roadside parking in Ogden Canyon is limited and generally discouraged, with many restrictions in place.
- Obey all parking signs.
- Illegally parked vehicles, including those on roadways, are subject to expensive tickets.
Pineview Reservoir Parking
Pineview Reservoir has day use parking available at Anderson Cove Campground, Cemetery Point, and Middle Inlet. Additional parking can be found along the eastern shores at Pelican/Quist Beach and Spring Creek. Please do not park along roadsides. Illegal parking is a public safety hazard and blocks emergency vehicles from reaching the water during rescue operations.
- These lots often fill early in the day, especially for boat use.
- Parking is not allowed on the road.
- The western shores are closed for construction throughout 2026.
Huntsville Town Parking
Huntsville Town has strict ordinances restricting parking throughout the town from May 1 to September 30. Seasonal parking passes are exclusively available for residents of Huntsville. These passes permit residents to park west of 7300 E.
Key Parking Regulations:
- Fines: Parking violations, particularly around Pineview Reservoir, can result in a $75 or $100 fine, increasing to $150 if not paid within 14 days.
- Overnight Ban: No parking on side streets between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. beginning November 1, even without snow, to allow for maintenance.
UTA Park and Ride
UTA Park and Ride lots provide free parking, but it is strictly regulated. During the summer, it is primarily intended for active transit users, carpoolers, or visitors accessing nearby recreational trailheads like the Birdsong Trail.
During the summer season, the designated canyon Park & Ride lots pivot from winter "Ski Bus" transit hubs into active rideshare and staging zones.
Travel Safe and Travel Wise in the Ogden Valley
Whether you’re visiting in the winter or summer, Check Blind Spots: Always look for bikes, pedestrians, or wildlife before turning or merging.
Driver Tips for Sharing the Road with Cyclists
- Give Space: Leave at least 3 feet when passing.
- Don’t Block Bike Lanes: Except briefly when turning right.
- Yield to Cyclists: They have the same rights as drivers.
- Pass Safely: Cross the centerline only if it’s safe.
- Be Kind: Endangering or harassing cyclists is illegal.
- Intersections: Cyclists going straight have the right-of-way.
- Right Turns: Don’t cut off cyclists—let them clear the intersection first.
- Avoid Honking: Use your horn only to prevent a crash.
Winter Weather Maintenance and Snowplow Information
UDOT strives to provide the public with safe and clear roads. There are a variety of factors that may impact the condition of a road, including:
- Rate of snowfall
- Type of snowfall
- Anti-icing strategies
- Weather forecasts
- Winter storm maintenance standards
Actual plow routes and equipment assignments are determined by UDOT's District Engineers using the winter storm maintenance standards. Maintenance stations will provide normal services as soon as available resources permit during unusual or extreme winter conditions.
You can track UDOT plows at udottraffic.utah.gov or on the UDOT Traffic app.
